The Boris Nemtsov Foundation and photographer Sergey Ponomarev are announcing the call for applications for the SHOOT Grant Program 2023, created to support documentary photographers and videographers who have been forced to leave their countries. They are interested in documentary photo and video projects about the war in Ukraine and its consequences, which are already underway, but you do not have enough resources to complete them.
The Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom was established in November 2015 in Germany. The mission is to preserve the liberal legacy of Russian politician Boris Nemtsov, who was assassinated in Moscow in February 2015.
Grant
- The maximum grant amount is $7,000 USD.
- The authors of the winning projects will be able to receive mentoring support from Sergey Ponomarev.
Eligibility
- Open to documentary photographers and videographers who have been forced to leave their countries.
- They give preference to projects that offer a fresh perspective on the problems of war and can potentially attract the attention of a wide audience.
Selection Criteria
- Documentary photo and video projects under implementation
- Examples of previous work
- A clear filming plan
- Detailing and justification of expenses
- Confirmation of preliminary agreements with media and/or film festivals that are interested in your project
Application
The application should include a description of your project and a cost estimate. The competitive selection of projects will be carried out by a professional jury. Applications are open until 24:00 CET on May 15, 2023.
