Deadline: September 6, 2024

Applications are open for the OneBeat Music Exchange Program 2025 for Musicians. OneBeat is the premier multinational music exchange program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Through a suite of programs designed to use collaborative music creation to promote civic discourse, young musicians explore how artists, institutions and communities can work together to rejuvenate local economies and promote civic engagement through music, technology, and the creative arts.

Northeastern University Global Study Expo 2026

OneBeat is accepting applications for a month-long U.S.-based music exchange scheduled for the spring of 2025, which will convene 25 musicians from up to 54 eligible countries and territories. OneBeat Fellows will spend approximately one month in an intensive residency which offers a chance for artists to write, produce, and perform original music, and develop strategies for arts-based community engagement. OneBeat Fellows then go on tour across a region of the U.S., performing for a wide array of American audiences, collaborating with local musicians, and leading workshops with youth and community organizations. During the month-long exchange, OneBeat musicians develop projects for their home countries that embody the power of musical collaboration and civic engagement to address shared community challenges.

Cost

  • All costs will be covered for OneBeat Fellows, including travel and accommodations. Fellows will also receive a daily per diem and a $600 honorarium for participation.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be 19 or older by the start of the program (April, 2025) and 35 or younger at the end of the program (May, 2025).
  • Be from any of the following countries: Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mali, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United States, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zimbabwe
  • OneBeat Fellows must apply individually and will be selected as individuals. However, several members of a group are welcome to apply separately.
  • Participants should have a basic grasp of English in order to participate in ensembles and creative sessions. Lectures, group discussions and program information will be delivered in English, and it is the primary language used to communicate.

Application

Applications for the program are open now, and are due by September 6, 2024 5:00 PM EDT EST.
