Deadline: November 15, 2024

Applications for the AAUW Selected Professions Fellowship Program 2025 are now open. The Selected Professions Fellowship Program promotes gender equity for women by providing funding in support of those pursuing a full-time course of study in targeted degree programs where women’s representation has traditionally been low.

Northeastern University Global Study Expo 2026

AAUW established these fellowships in 1970 with a grant from the Max C. Fleischmann Foundation, and over time has broadened the program to foster broader representation of women in fast growing fields in which their proportional representation has not kept apace.

Selected Professions Fellowships are available for the following degree programs:

  • Architecture (M.Arch.)
  • Computer/Information Science (MS)
  • Engineering (ME, MS)
  • Mathematics/Statistics (MS)
  • Business Administration (MBA)
  • Law (JD)
  • Medicine (MD, DO)

Award

  • Selected Professionals Fellowships carry a stipend of $20,000 and are disbursed in two equal payments over the fellowship term, which runs from July 1 – June 30, annually. Stipends are made payable to fellows only.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Applicants must be or identify as a woman.
  • Applicants must be enrolled on a full-time basis at an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Applicants enrolled in a joint-degree program may apply for support if they plan to pursue full-time coursework during the entire fellowship year in one of the approved degree programs. Coursework in other fields, even if part of a joint-degree program, is not supported.
  • Applicants must not already hold a master’s or professional degree.
  • Applicants who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming life challenges beyond their control, such as socioeconomic status, discrimination, limited academic resources or opportunities or other adverse circumstances (preferred).
