Applications are open for the HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship 2025. With the aim of strengthening innovation for social impact in Nigeria, the Fellowship will contribute to increasing the pool of civic actors who are championing underrepresented perspectives and engaging emerging technologies to make significant contributions to society.
The Fellowship targets journalists, civil society/non-profit professionals and researchers who possess a clear track record of excellence, and body of work in leveraging technology for social change. The Fellowship will follow a two-part model consisting of a 5-day in-person training (in the FCT) and a 3-month post training period to allow the fellows practicalise their learnings.
Training topics will include, but are not limited to:
- Opportunities for Research and Advocacy in AI
- Introduction to VR
- GIS for Storytelling
- History, Trends and Ethical Considerations in Generative AI
- Tech for Policy Advocacy and Public Accountability:
- Information Warfare
- Data for Civic Engagement
- Tech Tools for Immersive Storytelling

Eligibility
- Civil society actors such as advocates, non-profit professionals, researchers and journalists. Women are especially encouraged to apply.
- Professionals aged between 21 and 35, with at least 2 years of proven experience in advocacy, technology, research, journalism, humanitarian activities and public policy.
- Professionals with an interest in leveraging tech for social impact and past experience of embedding AI in their work.
Expectations of Fellows
- Commitment to a 5-day in-person training in Abuja
- Monthly reports on their project development/execution
- Step-down training to colleagues in their respective organisations
- Commitment to implementing a short-term project (within 3 months) that visibly embeds technology in it.
- Commitment to engaging in all post-training activities in the 3-month period. This specifically includes one session with a mentor (if assigned) and one group call with other fellows each month.
