Applications are open for the EJN Virtual Media Workshop to Strengthen Reporting on Business Engagement with Climate Change in Indonesia 2026. EJN, as part of its Business and Climate Media Initiative (BCMI), is holding a five-day virtual media workshop for Indonesian journalists to improve the quality and quantity of reporting on the crucial transition to clean energy and clean mobility.
Subject-matter experts will equip journalists with the knowledge and information they need to report on these important issues as well as wider issues surrounding the private sector’s role in climate and environmental change. Journalists will also discuss potential story pathways that journalists can pursue, as Indonesia works toward its climate goals.
Themes
The workshop will be held online from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Jakarta time on January 22, 23, 24, 30 and 31, 2026.
- Day 1—Energy transition and industrial sectors in Indonesia (including greenwashing practices)
- Day 2—Technology transformation and new business opportunities in renewable energy
- Day 3—ESG implementation (regulations and private sector involvement)
- Day 4—Carbon markets (how they work and the potential of green and blue carbon)
- Day 5—Climate finance: international and domestic
A detailed agenda will be shared with selected participants.
Benefits
- Participants who attend all sessions will receive a certificate of completion from EJN and will also be eligible to apply for a story grant following the workshop.
Eligibility
- Open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) from all types of organizations—community-based, local, national or international—across Indonesia.
- They welcome applications from freelancers and staff journalists alike. They especially encourage women, rural, Indigenous and early-career journalists to apply.
- Applicants must be transparent about the use of generative AI tools, if any, in preparing their proposals. EJN reserves the right to disqualify applicants if found to have engaged in unethical or improper conduct, including but not limited to submitting AI-generated content as their own.
Application
A maximum of 30 participants will be accepted. Successful applicants will be notified in the second week of January 2026.
