Here is an exciting opportunity to make your voice heard in a major advocacy and information-sharing forum. Are you between the ages of 16-29 years? Are you active in the AIDS advocacy in your community? Then apply to be one of the youth speakers during the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS2014) taking place in Melbourne, Australia from 20th – 25th July 2014!

Youth Engagement, youth visibility and the meaningful participation of young people are integral parts of the International AIDS Conference. Their commitment is to ensure we champion the power and place of young people as key speakers throughout all tracks of the program for the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS2014).

This is a unique opportunity to also draw attention to the post 2015 development agenda as we move closer to the end of Millennium Development Goals. You can apply or nominate speakers for a variety of session types including plenary sessions, symposiums, workshops, special high level events and pre-conferences. They want to ensure they have a diverse and representative list of recommended young speakers they can draw nominations from.

Eligibility and Requirements

The AIDS 2014 Youth Force is are seeking your help to suggest young people aged 16-29years of age who you think would make an outstanding contribution to a specific topic or area related to HIV and AIDS.

  • Below is a list of areas of expertise, interests and background topics that may help you to identify young people from your networks who can contribute to these specific areas.
    • People living with HIV
    • Clinical Science
    • Basic Science
    • Social or political research
    • Epidemiology or prevention research
    • Economics
    • Health and development
    • Leadership
    • Post 2015 Development Agenda
    • Disabled persons
    • Young people
    • Women/Girls
    • Human rights or law
    • Faith-based
    • Children
    • Indigenous people
    • Clinical service provider
    • Community program provider
    • Migrant Populations
    • Sex Workers
    • Advocacy
    • Transgender
    • Men who have sex with men
    • People who use drugs

You are also welcome to recommend yourself if you feel you are an ideal candidate for a particular area. Speakers should ideally have a proven ability to speak, write and understand English.
