Applications are open for the Community Energy Peer Mentoring Fund. Half a million fund is available to help community energy projects. The fund will support established organisations that support other groups to run community energy projects and create new opportunities for social action volunteering. The new funding is designed to help new groups get off the ground so they can start saving money and generating energy in their community. It will also help existing groups to professionalize, develop business plans and scale up their work.
Grants will range from £10,000 to £50,000. The first tranche of money will go out in February 2014 and organisations will need to spend their grants by March 2015.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible groups include voluntary organisations, social enterprises, social business, neighbourhood associations, churches and faith based groups.
- Organisations must apply in partnership or consortia including at least two organisations. At least one organisation must be emerging, having been established for no more than two years and at least one other must be more than 2 years old or have the equivalent expertise or experience to enable them to effectively peer mentor.
- Applicants must show how they mobilise social action and use peer mentoring approaches to achieve energy targets.
