Television for the Environment (tve) welcomes entries for the tvebiomovies 2014. tvebiomovies is an annual film competition to raise awareness of environmental issues. Now in its fifth year, the competition is open to everyone around the world with access to a camera. You could receive US$300 to produce a one-minute film about the environment and you be the winner of a $1500 grant!
Which bit of the environment? Choose a category and decide. Your film could be funny or serious, an animation, a drama or a documentary.
Categories
1. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Renewable Energy Prize: This category is only open to citizens of the EBRD’s 65 member states. See a full list of member countries. Films in this category will imaginatively address the question:
- What does renewable energy mean to you and how can it help the world?
2. The INBAR Prize for bamboo and rattan. Films in this category will address the following questions:
- Is bamboo the construction material for the 21st Century?
- Why should you buy bamboo and rattan products? What can you do with it?
- How can bamboo help to restore degraded lands?
3. The WWF-UK Prize for a World With a Future. Films in this category will address the following questions:
- What does our world mean to you? And why is it worth protecting?
- We all have a part to play in looking after our planet. What’s yours?
- Who or what inspires you to protect nature?
Prizes
The winner in each category – the film which receives the most views on tve’s Inspiring Change YouTube channel – will receive US$1500! Winning films will also be screened at the CBD COP 12 Conference on Biodiversity in the Republic of Korea.
There are three categories and there will be a prize of US$1500 for the winner of each category. The winner will be the film in each category which has received the most views between 16 October 2014 and 15 December 2014.
Eligibility
tve is looking for creative, funny or serious, inspirational stories about the environment. You don’t need a long proposal – just write briefly what your film is about and its content.
Guidelines
- Films must be a maximum of one minute in duration, including credits and titles. Any film that exceeds 70 seconds in duration will be disqualified.
- The format of the film must be mov, mp4, or wmv.
- Each film must be entered into one of the three categories.
- We are looking for films that are creative about how they address the environmental issues.
- Films can come from individuals or groups, but there must be a lead filmmaker.
- Funding of $300 will be paid to the selected nine finalists only on successful receipt of their completed films.
- You must agree to all the terms and conditions to enter the competition.
How do I enter?
- Choose one of the three categories and think how you might make a one-minute film.
- Write and submit a film proposal
- Nine finalists will be awarded US$300 to make their films
- The finalist in each category with the most views will win a US$1500 prize!
Pitches will only be accepted in English, French, Russian or Spanish.
