Deadline: January 6, 2021

Applications for the Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP (MNGD) First-Year Law Student Diversity Fellowship 2021 are now open. MNGD will be offering one fellowship in their Seattle office and one fellowship in their Portland office in 2021.

Northeastern University Global Study Expo 2026

Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP (MNGD), a full-service law firm with offices located in the Pacific Northwest and California, is dedicated to providing superior and comprehensive legal services to a wide range of the region’s prominent businesses, nonprofits, public entities, and individuals.

They recognize that diversity is a fundamental part of providing quality legal services, but that historical disadvantages have led to the underrepresentation of certain diverse groups within the legal profession, particularly among racial and ethnic minorities, persons that identify as LGBTQ+, and persons with disabilities. MNGD is therefore dedicated to increasing and promoting diversity and representation of historically underrepresented groups, both within the firm and within the region’s legal, business, public-sector, and philanthropic communities.

Benefits

  • Each fellowship recipient will receive a paid, ten-week summer associate position, and after successful completion of the summer associate fellowship, will be awarded a $15,000 scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a first-year student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Intend to work, live, and practice law in the Pacific Northwest following graduation.
  • Be willing and able to fill a summer associate position at MNGD for at least ten weeks.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence, strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and meaningful contributions to the community.

Application

The following materials are required for application:

  • Statement of interest (two- to five-pages), in which you describe the following:
    • Significant community-service organizations or projects in which you have participated
    • Leadership roles you have held and the lessons you have learned from those experiences
    • Other qualifications, professional experiences, life experiences, or indicators of success that you believe qualify you to aid MNGD in its mission to increase and promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Current resume.
  • Copy of your grades from your first semester of law school (you may send later if they are not available by the application deadline) and a copy of your undergraduate transcript (unofficial is acceptable for each).
  • List of three academic or professional references.
  • Self-edited legal writing sample.

Apply by emailing the materials listed above as one combined PDF to: [email protected].
