Applications are now open for the Diplomat Fellowship for Social Innovators 2015. The Diplomat Fellowship for social innovators is dedicated to creating and discovering solutions for the greatest social impact, in urban communities throughout the world. It aims at producing the next generation of thought leaders who will change not only a community, but also the world. It is a structured program that includes cohort meetings and seminars, a mid-project evaluation, and a final project presentation at the end of the summer.

Diplomat Fellowship exposes fellows to negotiation, entrepreneurship and innovation. It is committed to social impact through entrepreneurial action. Diplomat Fellowship allows you to take on an important societal challenge. During the three-month program, Diplomat Fellows are fully immersed in the Flint community, where they will share their expertise and ideas with one another. Sample areas include health care, homelessness, environment, education, economy and emergency preparedness and response.

Cost and Benefits

As a Fellow, you will spend the summer working and interacting with a diverse team of collaborators, who will provide real-time support and feedback to help you improve your most groundbreaking ideas for social innovation. Diplomat Fellowship will grant you access to cross-disciplinary mentors who will help with transformational leadership, design thinking and business development.

The fellowship also includes:

  • A stipend of $4,000 over the course of the summer program.
  • Hands-on experience and access to a dedicated network of professionals.
  • Project funding opportunities.
  • Free accommodation.

Fellows will be responsible for travel, meals and other incidental expenses.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must be graduate student, undergraduate student or a recent collect graduate (within six months of beginning the Fellowship).
  • Students who apply for the Fellowship must have a specific social impact area of interest they are passionate about commencing.

Application materials should be submitted online. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for acceptance to the Fellowship program. Applicants will be notified of acceptance decisions by May 1, 2015 or sooner based on rolling application process.
