Deadline: July 27, 2025

Applications are open for the CT Climate Journalism Mentoring Program 2025. In its ninth edition, Climate Tracker is looking for six journalists from Latin America and the Caribbean to strengthen coverage of the energy transition with a fair and evidence-based approach. The selected people will receive personalized editorial mentoring, training, financial support of up to 900 dollars and accompaniment to give visibility to their reports.

Latin America is at a turning point: while some countries are making progress in the adoption of renewable energies, others continue to bet on fossil gas as a supposed transitional solution. What stories are shaping this transition? And who is telling them?

Climate Tracker is opening the call for applications for the ninth cycle of the Climate Journalism Mentoring Programme, this time focused on covering the energy transition. If you’re a journalist and want to strengthen your skills, produce rigorous content, and inspire urgent conversations about your country’s energy future, this opportunity is for you.

Benefits

For three months, they will select six journalists – one per country – in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the Dominican Republic to be part of the mentoring program.

Each person will receive:

  • Advanced professional training, with four virtual sessions on energy transition, disinformation, and rigorous climate coverage.
  • Personalized editorial mentoring to develop strong, contextualized, evidence-based coverage.
  • Total funding of USD 900 to produce three original news stories, published in the media of your choice and on the Climate Tracker website.
  • Production of one audiovisual piece per participant, designed for social networks and based on one of your stories. They accompany you throughout the process and do the product editing This is a learning experience.
  • Support to expand the scope of your work and facilitate republications in national and regional media through the Environmental Media Network.

In addition, they will invite you to contribute to an edition of the weekly newsletter Click Climática, adapting one of your stories to a short narrative format and in the first person to reach new audiences.

Eligibility

This program is aimed at journalists who:

  • Reside in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico or the Dominican Republic.
  • Have experience (or proven interest) in covering climate change, energy, the environment, or social issues.
  • Can produce three journalistic pieces throughout the program.
