Deadline: July 31, 2020

Entries are open for the ADB-AIM Hackathon 2020. Asia Development Bank (ADB) and AIM are working together again this year, understandably focusing on the COVID-19 crisis. This 2020 ADB-AIM Hackathon provides a platform where you can become part of shaping the new normal.

With numerous hackathons and other formats drumming up solutions for response, recovery, and resilience, ADB and AIM will focus this hackathon on what life will be like in the post-COVID-19 era. The objective is to envision the new normal in light of potential long-term behavioral changes and encourage innovative solutions to address these shifts and their associated challenges.

Together, let’s find opportunities to utilize digital tools and technologies to tackle what life will be like in the new normal.

Challenge Areas

Are there ways digital technologies could help us address the long-term needs of these critical areas? Ideas can be submitted at any stage, throughout the entire hackathon’s 9-month duration.

  1. Economic Development
  2. Health and Well-being
  3. Education
  4. Enhancing Institutions

Benefits

Win up to USD 10,000, and a chance to implement the solution with ADB

Eligibility

  • They are crowdsourcing innovation from global problem solvers: startups, companies, universities, research organizations, and industry players.
  • All selected ideas and solutions will be provided with access to resources for further prototype development and pilot launch.

Judging Criteria

The voters (composed of the Jury) may evaluate and select the winning submission based on the following criteria:

  • Business Value 30%
  • Operational Feasibility & Scalability 30%
  • User Experience 20%
  • Technical Competency 20%

The most valuable solutions will be selected based on value. They will focus on feasibility on deployment. Selected solutions will get the opportunity to develop prototypes, funded by ADB for pilot testing, supported by our partners and specialized experts. They want to go beyond spotting solutions to putting together a comprehensive, systematic, and scalable program aimed at producing measurable, sustained outcomes.

Application

Each round spans in a 3-month phase starting from articulating problems to identifying solutions. Participants will go through application, evaluation, mentoring, and pitching.
