Deadline: August 3, 2020

Apply to join the She Writes Woman and WARIF Mental Health Support Group. In response to the rise in Gender-Based Violence during the COVID-19 pandemic, She Writes Woman in partnership with Women At Risk International Foundation (WARIF) will be utilizing a confidential support group and 24/7 crisis counselling helpline as a first point of contact for survivors of gender-based violence as well as those living with mental health conditions.

Victims will get access to a confidential service providing them with psychosocial support and counselling to reduce the risk of escalation during this COVID-19 crisis while also scaling up advocacy on gender-based violence in Nigeria. The program is supported by One Young World COVID-19 Young Leaders fund which was created to fund initiatives from young leaders around the world which are directly battling the Coronavirus pandemic with tangible front-line results. Activities led by the One Young World Community alone have directly impacted 26 million people since 2010.

About She Writes Woman (SWW) and WARIF

She Writes Woman and Women at Risk International Foundation are leading organisations in the mental health and sexual violence space respectively. Both began operations in 2016.

She Writes Woman (SWW) is a women-led movement of Love, Hope and Support that gives mental health a voice in Nigeria. The organization was founded in April 2016 by Hauwa Ojeifo, following a double diagnosis of bipolar and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Since inception, Ojeifo’s work has received the 2018 Queen’s Young Leaders Award, 2019 Obama Africa Leader, 2018 Viacom MTV EMA Generation Change and Women Deliver 2020, among others. She is currently a One Young World ambassador and has spoken at the United Nations several times.

Women at Risk International Foundation, (WARIF) is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 by Dr Kemi DaSilva-Ibru MD; MPH in response to the high incidence of sexual assault, rape and human trafficking occurring amongst young girls and women across Nigeria.
