Applications are open for the CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy 2023. The program invites emerging filmmakers from Asia to participate in the education program, online and in Busan, Korea, 9 July to 13 October 2023. The program includes short film production, workshops, mentoring and masterclasses. The completed short films by the fellows will be officially screened at the Busan International Film Festival, 4–13 October 2023.
Program Details
Fellows will make 2 short films during the program. Among 20 short film scripts submitted by the fellows, 2 are selected to be produced and screened at the Busan International Film Festival 2023. Divided into two teams, the fellows in each team go through a collaborative filmmaking process from script development to the post-production with the support of mentors, instructors, and professional crew.
In addition, there will be workshops and mentoring with experts from various filmmaking fields, faculty film screenings, a MPA-BAFA Film Workshop: Bridge to Hollywood to help participants develop their pitches, CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy Network event allows for the current fellows to meet with alumni and a graduation with short film screening.
Cost
- The cost for travelling within Asia, accommodation, meals, equipment will be provided to all selected fellows.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicant:
- Has Asian nationality or is a Korean overseas;
- Is over 18 years;
- Has experience in directing, producing, cinematography, editing, production design or sound at least 2 short films;
- Can communicate in English;
- Can attend all sessions including online pre-production;
- Has never attended Asian Film Academy / CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy before.
