Deadline: October 31, 2023
Applications are open for the Marie Mindermann Scholarship 2023. The Bremen regional association of the German Journalists’ Association (DJV) announces its first Marie Mindermann bursary of 5,000 euros for the year 2023. This is initially designed as a project scholarship for a period of 12 months.
The Marie Mindermann-Scholarship of the DJV Bremen aims to support professionally or formerly professionally active journalists who had to leave their home country. In this way, the DJV Bremen would like to give journalists living in exile the opportunity to independently realise a journalistic project of their choice.
Benefit
- A bursary of €5,000 will be awarded to the winner. The prize money is paid out in twelve monthly instalments (11 x 400 euros, 1x 600 euros).
Eligibility

- Journalists and publicists from Central and Eastern Europe as well as refugees from states with a lack of press freedom are explicitly addressed; the basis for this is the 2022 annual report of “Reporters without Borders”. Gender-related persecution is to be given priority.
