Applications are open for the Gap in Between Startup Challenge 2026. This is an international call designed to boost entrepreneurship as a driver of social and environmental transformation.
They seek to identify and showcase startups that are developing innovative solutions to today’s most urgent challenges. Through this challenge, they not only connect impact-driven entrepreneurs with resources, capital, and strategic allies but also place them at the center of a global conversation about the future they aim to build: fairer, more inclusive, regenerative, and collaborative.
In 2026, the challenge focuses on five key innovation verticals:
- Climate Tech & Energy
- Smart Cities & Mobility
- AgriTech & Food Systems
- Health, Wellbeing & Care
- Social & Economic Systems
Benefits
Selected startups become part of the Startup Challenge cohort and gain access to:
- Curated matchmaking with investors, corporates and ecosystem actors
- Participation in The Gap in Between event
- Visibility within a curated ecosystem of impact innovation
Additionally, semifinalists will:
- Present their solution in pitch sessions during the event
- Have a dedicated presence at the event
- One startup will be selected as the winner and will receive a €10,000 prize
Eligibility
The Startup Challenge is open to startups from all geographies. They welcome applications from international teams working on solutions in social and environmental impact. The Challenge is designed as a global platform.
They are looking for:
- Impact-driven startups across climate, mobility, health, food and social innovation
- Founders looking for investment or strategic partnerships
- Startups with validated products or market traction
- Teams ready to scale their solution internationally
Application
Note that while the application and preparation phases are online, selected startups are expected to attend the final event in person in Valencia on October 20. Applying to the Startup Challenge is completely free of charge. Participation in the event is also free.
