Applications are open for the British Council TNE Grants with India 2026–2027. The grants support UK-India partnerships to develop and launch new transnational education courses and degree programmes in emerging areas. The aim is to enhance academia-industry engagement and create stronger UK-India higher education collaboration, while creating more opportunities for young people in emerging disciplines.
Focus Areas
The call supports the development and launch of innovative, interdisciplinary, high-impact TNE courses and programmes in the following areas:
- AI and Machine Learning and Quantum Computing
- Genomics and Proteomics CRISPR based Therapies
- Sustainable Energy – Technology Transition/ Climate Change
- Synthetic Biology/ Neurotechnology
- Circular economy-based research
- Advance Engineering/Robotics/Space Technologies
- Semi-Conductor Technologies
- Critical Minerals/Geological and Earth Sciences
The call is designed to support projects that can contribute directly to a strong pipeline of TNE courses and degree programmes in the above areas.
Grant
- Grant of £30,000
Eligibility
UK institution:
- Higher education providers with degree awarding powers.
Indian institution:
- Government or privately funded higher education institutes, recognised by the state or central governments and its institutions, suuch as UGC, AICTE, or any other competent body in India.
- Indian institutes of eminence, Indian institutes of national importance are encouraged to apply.
Industry partner
- For-profit/commercial organisations, including micro, small, medium and large enterprises, who are compliant with local laws.
