Apply to become a Commonwealth Leaders Academy Programmes Associate. The Programmes Associate (Volunteer) will provide operational and administrative support to the delivery of CLA’s programmes and activities. The role is ideal for an organised, proactive and creative individual seeking experience in programme management, communications and international development.

The Commonwealth Leaders Academy (CLA) is a Community Interest Company established to develop the next generation of Commonwealth leaders through leadership development, capacity building, policy engagement and international collaboration. Working closely with governments, youth organisations, universities and development partners, CLA designs and delivers programmes that empower young people to create meaningful impact across the Commonwealth.

Responsibilities

  • Programme Support
    • Support the planning and coordination of CLA programmes and events.
    • Assist with preparing programme materials, reports and documentation.
    • Draft routine correspondence and follow-up emails.
  • Communications
    • Design presentation slides and briefing materials.
    • Support the development and scheduling of social media content.
    • Assist with newsletters, announcements and promotional materials.

Benefits

  • Volunteers will receive a monthly stipend of £100 towards incidental costs associated with volunteering. This stipend is not intended to constitute a salary or wage.

Eligibility

  • Applicant should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Experience using Canva or PowerPoint to prepare presentations.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms.

Desirable Qualities

  • Experience supporting projects, events or programmes.
  • Interest in youth development, leadership or international affairs.
  • Experience working with youth organisations, NGOs or student organisations.

Application

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. The Programmes Associate is expected to contribute regularly to agreed activities, with an anticipated commitment of up to 20 hours per week, depending on programme needs and the volunteer’s availability.
