Deadline: September 30, 2026

Applications for the Jesus College Cambridge Science Research Fellowship 2026 are now open. Applications are invited for one Research Fellowship in either Biological Anthropology; Biology/Biological Sciences; Biotechnology; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Computer Science; Ecology; Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Mathematics/Mathematical Sciences; Medicine; Natural Sciences; Physics; Psychology or Veterinary Sciences.

Any candidate whose research crosses disciplinary boundaries involving at least one of the subjects listed above (for example, Computer Science and Linguistics) should apply to this competition and not the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences competition. This Fellowship is a fixed-term three-year Research Fellowship normally commencing on 1 October 2027.

Benefits

  • Remuneration for a Research Fellow is set by reference to the University of Cambridge salary scale and will start from £32,882 per annum. Free dinner (or lunch) is provided to all Research Fellows regardless of whether they live in or out of College. Certain research benefits may be reimbursed. Research fellows may join the University Pension Scheme.

Eligibility

  • The Fellowships are intended for researchers early in their careers.
  • Successful candidates are expected to be either graduate students, probably in the latter stages of their research leading to a PhD Degree, or post-doctoral researchers who have recently been awarded their PhD Degree.
  • Candidates who have undertaken more than five years of full-time research are unlikely to be considered.

The College is prepared to consider exceptions to these criteria and candidates have the opportunity to present a case for this during the application process.

Application

Applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to upload one copy of written work up to a maximum of 40,000 words and also a 500 word statement regarding the importance of their current and proposed work.
