Deadline: October 2, 2026

Applications are open for the IIH SHIFT (Scaling Homegrown Innovations & Frontier Technologies) Programme 2026. SHIFT is a definitive venture creation engine designed to incubate and commercialise grassroots frontier technology. Moving beyond generic software applications, SHIFT identifies, funds, and scales technical founders building defensible solutions in sectors critical to Africa’s future.

SHIFT is a strategic programme to identify, train, and support Nigerian entrepreneurs building deep-technology solutions. A 12-week commercialisation programme for Nigeria’s most technically ambitious frontier-technology founders. Organised by the Ilorin Innovation Hub. Delivered with Co-creation HUB. Backed by the Kwara State Government and IHS Towers Nigeria.

Benefits

  • 2 million naira funding for Idea-stage teams — even at prototype level — with a validated problem and full-time commitment.
  • 5 million naira for startups with a working product, initial users or revenue, and 6+ months of operation.
  • Structured masterclasses, workshops and mentorship in entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Grants/stipends, co-working space and access to IIH’s demo lab.
  • Connections to corporates, investors, universities and government.
  • A Demo Day platform to pitch for pilots, partnerships and funding.

Eligibility

  • Student and research innovators with a tech-driven idea.
  • Early-stage startups seeking market launch.
  • Local SMEs looking to digitize or adopt new technology.
  • Diverse teams (2–4 members) with at least one technical co-founder—at least 30% of admitted teams include female founders or underserved-community members.
