Deadline: February 13, 2022

Do you have ideas to positively impact the community that you and your family live in? Do you aspire to be a part of a team that takes those ideas and builds on them to make them a reality? Do you want to get paid to do so? Apply for the ONS Youth Leadership Council 2022.

This paid opportunity will allow youth to shape policies and programs, advocate for real change, amplify youth voices, and learn new skills.

The Office of Neighborhood Safety, based in the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, is recruiting youth and young adults to work with policy makers and communities to reimagine NYC’s safety. This initiative is dedicated to lifting up youth experiences to improve safety and wellbeing in key NYCHA developments and New York City.

The council will take place over the course of nine (9) months (March through November 2022 and last approximately 36 weeks). Members will participate in Council activities ~2 times per week (max 4 hours/week), during which time members will work with the Office of Neighborhood Safety, CUNY Intergenerational Change Initiative, the Center for Court Innovation, and other partners.

Benefits

  • Participants will receive a monthly stipend of $400.

Eligibility

  • Open to youth and young adults in New York City;
  • No prior experience is needed. You’ll shape policies and programs, advocate for real change, amplify youth voices, and learn skills along the way.

Application

Submit your application by Sunday, February 13, 2022. They would like to speak to each applicant by phone to get to know you a little and share more information about the ONS Youth Leadership Council. Don’t stress – these aren’t formal interviews!

Please share your availability and look out for their team’s future contact. They will notify applicants about acceptance by February 28, 2022. Programming is expected to begin by March 7, 2022!
