Applications are open for the Climate Change Reporting Grants 2022 for Journalists & Media Practitioners. The Media Council of Kenya is inviting accredited journalists and media practitioners to submit story proposals for the climate change reporting grants of up to KShs 10,000.
Story proposals should cover the following: Agriculture and food security, drought, declining water supplies, climate change impact on health, transport, weather changes, flooding and erosion, rising lakes and oceans, adaptation and mitigation success stories, going gree. Additionally, stories on blue economy, marine protection and climate financing.
Grant
- There are up to 20 grants at a cost for KShs 10,000 to cover travel, communication and meals.
Eligibility
- Open to journalists and media practitioners to do a print story, radio or television documentary or feature of not more than 10 minutes of story idea.
- The synopsis should include proposed story sources, the angle of the story, and what makes it unique, in not more than 150 words.
Selection Criteria
- Awards will be determined by the documentary, the uniqueness and strength of the story, and the potential impact it is likely to have.

- Ensure that the grant application form has all the mandatory and correct information
- Submit the application
- All grantees must ensure their stories are broadcast by November 4, 2022.
