Deadline: August 26, 2026

Applications are open for the Gustave Roussy Prize 2027. Launched in 2025, the Gustave Roussy Prize is awarded each year to a prominent figure in oncology research whose scientific breakthroughs in the fields of cancer diagnosis, treatment, or prevention have significantly improved patient care or led to a better understanding of the disease.

Created to mark the 150th anniversary of Professor Gustave Roussy’s birth and the centenary of the Institute that bears his name, the prize is a tribute to the pioneer who revolutionised cancer care by establishing, in 1921, the first consultation dedicated to patients with tumours. The prize highlights innovation and scientific commitment that led to tangible, lasting benefits for patients, in perfect alignment with Gustave Roussy’s mission: to cure more patients, more effectively and more sustainably.

Prize

  • With a value of €200,000, the award is divided into two parts: €100,000 allocated for the laureate’s unrestricted use and €100,000 dedicated to support an innovative research project in oncology.

Eligibility

  • Researchers of all nationalities and affiliations are invited to submit their application.
  • Applications will be reviewed by an independent jury of international experts, based on criteria of scientific excellence and clinical impact, without distinction of discipline or institutional affiliation.

Application

Application deadline is August 26, 2026. The prize will be awarded on February 4, 2026 at the Lido theater, to mark World Cancer Day.
