Ireland Fellows Programme: Roger Casement Fellowship 2027-2028

Applications are open for the Roger Casement Fellowship 2027-2028. The Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights honours the Irish human rights activist Roger Casement, who spent part of his early working life in Calabar, Nigeria. The fellowship supports candidates from Nigeria to undertake a master’s level course of study in Human Rights in Ireland each year.

The Ireland Fellows Programme is fully funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Foreign Affairs, with implementation support in Ireland from ICOS.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a resident national of Nigeria
  • Hold a recognized bachelor’s degree
  • Have at least two years substantial work experience that is directly relevant to your proposed programme(s) of study.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to development

Eligible Programmes

  • Applicants from Nigeria must select programmes from the Casement Fellowship Course Directory. Eligible programmes focus primarily on Human Rights, Law, Governance, Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Studies and related development fields

Application

Application stages:

  • Stage 1: Preliminary Application – Initial eligibility review and applicant information.
  • Stage 2: Detailed Application – Full application with supporting documents, programme choices, work experience, and motivation.
  • Stage 3: Physical or Interview Stage – Later selection activity for shortlisted applicants. There is no public Stage 3 online application form.
