Applications are now open for the 2016 World Summit Youth Award (WSYA). This is a unique global contest which brings together young developers and digital entrepreneurs who use internet and mobile technology to put the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into action and make a difference. The WSYA selects and promotes best practice in e-Content.
Are you younger than 30? Have developed a social project with Internet or Mobile Technology? Do you want to make a difference in the world, your country or community? Are you committed social entrepreneur and are eager to give your project a new drive? Then you should apply for the World Summit Youth Award and get the chance to bring your project on a global stage!

Eligibility
Formal Criteria are:
- Age:you have to be younger than 30 (born after January 1, 1986)
- Category:your project must fit into one of the WSYA Categories
- Language:The project itself can be in any language. The Application has to be in English as the Jury has to understand what your project is about to be able to evaluate it properly.
- Application form:Personal and project information needs to be complete. You don’t have to write endless texts but please make sure that we as outsiders can understand what you want to achieve with your project and why you think your project is outstanding.
- The Youthaward accepts only launched projects or beta versions, no ideas.
The online or mobile project to be entered in to the contest must be initiated and executed by young people under the age of 30 (born on or after January 1, 1986) from any of the UN and UNESCO member states.
Projects which completed the submission process are evaluated in round 2 by an online jury of young experts. Two to three projects per category will be selected as the final winners of WSYA.

Eligible projects
- The projects, products, or applications must be fully functional and operational at the time of submission and must be accessible via the internet whether it is designed for fixed line, broadband or mobile use.
- Submissions must be made in one of the six categories of the WSYA
- The submitted product or application must be completed after January 1st, 2014. For a project or product completed earlier the submitters have to document that significant alterations and / or improvements and / or additions have been made in the period thereafter.
- Products / projects or applications which have been submitted in the WSYA in previous years cannot be submitted again. For a project which has been already submitted before, the submitters have to document significant alterations and / or improvements and / or additions.
- Winning project can not be submitted twice.
- The submitted product or application must be free of offensive or plagiarized content and may not violate human rights as laid out in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and its application by international human rights courts or panels recognized by the United Nations Organization.
Submission
Here is what kind of information you will have to submit about your project:
- Short description of your product/project
- Long description of your product/project
- Introduce yourself and/or your team to the jury or upload a CV
- How sustainable is your project over the long term? Outline potential challenges, strategies and development.
- What are your project goals in the framework of the UN Millennium Development Goals?
- What is the youth component in your project (project management, target group, partners, etc)?
You will also have the chance to upload demos, videos, pictures, screenshots or any other additional information that will help the Jury to understand your project better.
How to participate
There are two ways of participating in the Youthaward:
- Your project is nominated by a Youthaward Ambassador or by a former Winner. If your project is nominated, you are automatically shortlisted and in round 2.
- You submit your project online to the Youthaward database. Your project will be evaluated in round 1 and only the best projects in each category will be shortlisted.
