Deadline: May 19, 2017

Are you a journalist in Europe? Apply now for the ECPMF’s Journalists-in-Residence Programme 2017. The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) Journalists-in-Residence programme is designed to temporarily host journalists from across geographical Europe who face harrassment and intimidations in their home country. It provides a refugepro tempore, a safe place to continue ones work and – if so desired by those hosted – a platform to highlight threats to media freedom back home.

The new European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) is founded by 25 organizations from all over Europe to stop the attack on Press and media freedom. The basis for their work is the European Charter signed by 48 editors-in-chief and leading journalists. The ECPMF will unite media, press organizations and academia to counter attacks on press and media freedom both nationally and internationally. They will establish a database of media law in Europe and of all attacks on it, they will organize working groups to support other national and international organizations advocating media freedom, they will support national media associations and individuals fighting for freedom of the press and media and they will support individual journalists who are harassed by the authorities.
