Deadline: December 1, 2013

Applications are now accepted for the UJMT Fogarty Global Health Fellows Program. The fellowship aims to provide a new opportunity for selected junior faculty, fellows, and scholars to receive global health research training. This program is supported by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Johns Hopkins University, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Tulane University. The program offers opportunity for predoctoral scholars and postdoctoral fellows to be trained in the U.S. and in low-or middle-income countries.

All trainees are expected to work 36 hours per week for 11 months. The expectation for trainees is that they effectively conduct high-quality, ethical research documenting their research findings with at least one publishable, for peer-review paper.

Eligibility

This program is suited for

  1. post-doctoral researchers in a junior faculty position who have completed an Institutional Research Training Grant (T32) in any of the health science disciplines
  2. early-stage postdoctoral researchers
  3. doctoral students from schools of dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health and veterinary medicine.
  • Trainees from low- or middle-income country (LMIC) international sites can apply as postdocs or as a predoc who is then “twinned” with the U.S. doctoral student trainee.
  • Funding can also be used for travel and research supplements for junior faculty with K awards who wish to spend the year overseas.
  • Applications are also welcome from research ‘teams’.

Fellowship Provision

Fellowship trainees originating from the U.S. will receive a monthly stipend dependent upon experience, research funding, health and emergency evacuation insurance, and re-location funds. LMIC trainees will receive stipend support, research funds, and conference travel funds.
