Camelback Ventures Fellowship 2018 – Up to $40,000 and More for Ventures based in America

Deadline: January 25, 2018

Are you an underrepresented entrepreneur, education/social impact venture or any venture based in an American city? The Camelback Fellowship 6-month long program is for you. The Fellowship serves as a pre-accelerator for ventures with the aim to provide the equivalent of a friends & family round in combination with a tight-knit community and knowledge. Camelback has cultivated a thoughtful entrepreneurial curriculum over the last few years, specifically built for early stage, underrepresented founders.

This curriculum is delivered largely through three mandatory summits:

  1. New Orleans, April 24 – 27, 2018
  2. New York, June 26 – 29, 2018;
  3. Oakland, September 24 – 27, 2018.

Benefits

  • Fellows travel from around the country to convene. Summits on average are four days long, and the final summit culminates with a community showcase.
  • In addition to community, Camelback also provides coaching, capital, and connections.
  • Fellows have a dedicated venture coach who meets with them 1:1 regularly over the course of the program to provide expert advice and thought partnership.
  • Ventures receive up to $40,000 in investment; nonprofits and schools receive this as a grant, and for-profits and hybrids receive this as a convertible note.
  • Camelback also creates opportunities, during and after the Fellowship, to connect Fellows with industry professionals, investors, quality consultants, potential partner orgs, and other awesome people.

Eligibility

  • Underrepresented entrepreneurs, primarily people of color and women. This includes but is not limited to entrepreneurs identifying as Black, Latinx, East Asian, South Asian, Native, and/or Indigenous.
  • Education and social impact ventures, including nonprofits, for-profits, hybrids, and schools. This year, they are particularly interested in supporting ventures focused on personalized learning, innovative school models, and advocacy.
  • Any venture based in an American city. They believe their founders make the most impact by staying in their communities. While Camelback is based out of New Orleans, they support you where you work.

Application

  • The entire application process will be online; Round 1 will be available here starting January 4.
  • The application consists of three rounds. Round 1 will be written short answers with basic questions about your entrepreneurial journey and your venture. Round 2 will be written short answers that delve deeper into organizational details (like team composition and dynamics, market fit, your current and proposed budgets). Round 3 is a video interview with industry experts that challenges applicants to think about their personal development and organizational impact.

Register for the informational webinar on December 19 at 3pm central – all registrants will receive a copy of Round 1 questions early!
