Africa No Filter Kekere Storytellers Fund 2021 for Emerging Artists (Up to $2,000)

Deadline: August 26, 2021

Applications are open for the Africa No Filter Kekere Storytellers Fund 2021. The Kekere Storytellers Fund pays micro-grants to content creators, wordsmiths, performance artists, visual artists and journalists to create and publish unique and compelling content that shifts prevailing stereotypical narratives about their communities or subject.

This is Africa No Filter’s way of ensuring that funding, which is limited and rarely accessed by up-and-coming storytellers, reaches everyone with a compelling story to tell.

Africa No Filter supports the development of nuanced and contemporary stories that shift stereotypical and harmful narratives within and about Africa. Through research, grant-making and advocacy they aim to build the field of narrative change-makers by supporting storytellers, investing in media platforms and driving disruption campaigns.

  • The total grant amount ranges from $500 – $2,000.

  • Open to Bloggers, musicians, illustrators, graphic designers, scriptwriters, vloggers, podcasters, playwrights, photographers, documentary filmmakers, choreographers, poets, journalists, authors, producers, artists and publishers based in Africa.
  • Applicants must be aged below 35 years and produce ground-breaking work and creatively challenging harmful narratives within their local and digital communities.
