Applications are open for the EducationUSA Nigeria Opportunity Fund Program (OFP) 2026. The Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, through EducationUSA Nigeria, invites qualified candidates to apply for the EducationUSA Nigeria Opportunity Fund Program (OFP) 2026 cohort.
This initiative supports access to U.S. higher education while advancing American leadership, commercial diplomacy, and the shared economic interests of the United States and Nigeria, in alignment with the Freedom 250 celebration. Freedom250 marks 250 years of American leadership, innovation, and democratic values, and the OFP 2026 cohort will advance these priorities by preparing globally competitive talents aligned with U.S. economic and strategic interests.
OFP is designed to support high-achieving students with strong academic performance and leadership potential to successfully pursue U.S. higher education opportunities. The program reinforces U.S. priorities on secure, lawful, and well-managed student participation of U.S. higher education systems, ensuring participants understand and uphold the proper use of student visas and full compliance with U.S. immigration regulations.
Benefits
- OFP provides targeted investment to cover essential upfront costs associated with applying to U.S. institutions, which may include standardized testing fees, application fees, and other related expenses.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program:
- Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and strong leadership potential.
- Applicants must show clear intent to pursue post-secondary studies in the United States.
- Applicants must demonstrate a record of notable achievements and proven research capability.
- Applicants must exhibit a clear understanding of and commitment to visa integrity, regulatory compliance, and responsible participation in U.S. exchange programs.
