    Deadline: February 12, 2018

Applications are open for the University of Global Health Equity’s Master of Science in Global Health Delivery, a one-year, full-time degree program in Butaro, a rural town in Rwanda. The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is a new university based in Rwanda that is focused on building the next generation of global health professionals into leaders and changemakers through the Master of Science in Global Health Delivery (MGHD) program. They are on a mission to radically change the way health care is delivered around the world.

UGHE’s MGHD program provides one-of-a-kind learning experiences fundamentally rooted in the principles of global health, One Health, epidemiology, global health policy, management, finance, and leadership, preparing students to tackle complex health care delivery challenges in communities that need it most. Their vision is a world where every individual—no matter who they are or where they live— can lead a healthy and productive life. UGHE is committed to alleviating the burden of tuition for students through equity affirmative financial aid policies including payment plans and scholarship opportunities.

    Scholarship

All applicants will be considered for UGHE scholarships which are available to each incoming MGHD class. In addition to general scholarship support, UGHE has named scholarships for women and One Health leaders.

To promote this interdisciplinary perspective on health, UGHE has established the One Health Scholarship. This will be awarded to incoming MGHD candidates with a background in a One Health discipline (e.g., environmental, veterinary and social sciences). Tuition support will be awarded to an MGHD candidate with a demonstrated commitment to equity and a strong desire to investigate the interdependencies of human, animal, and natural systems that contribute to global health delivery. • Call for Applications: Zimba Women Mentorship Programme 2018

Call for Applications: Zimba Women Mentorship Programme 2018

    Deadline: February 28, 2018

Applications are now open for the Zimba Women Mentorship Programme 2018. The Zimba Women Mentorship Program is a year-long program that kicks off in April every year. The program aims to provide advice, leadership tips, and tools for young women to live purposeful and well-rounded lives.

When we support the growth and empowerment of women and girls, we raise the quality of life for everyone. By matching successful women and men with ambitious women and girls, they can help each other accomplish the equality and foundation that will shape the next generation of leaders.

    About

The mentorship relationship is at the heart of this program. Technology will be used to enable participants to build bonds between mentors and mentees who are not in the same area. Mentors may interact with mentees over video chat, collaborate on projects, brainstorm solutions to challenges and celebrate achievements as if they were in the same room together. Over the course of the year, the two become invested in each other’s success and merge their talents to make inimitable strides together.

The Zimba Women dedicated team is on hand to provide support and resources throughout the mentoring relationship. On average, mentors and mentees meet at least once in two months. The program places emphasis on leadership, professional, personal and emotional development as well advice on empowering practical messages to promote good habits, cultivate positive attitudes and build self-confidence.

    Benefits

The benefits of a mentoring relationship are tremendous- for both mentees and mentors. From building new skills to rejuvenating interest in their work, making new contacts and forging a bond with someone in another part of the country, mentoring truly presents some invaluable opportunities for everyone involved.

The benefits also extend beyond individuals. The women and girls they work with are pioneering change makers who are poised to become successful entrepreneurs and leaders in their communities. Women who are financially independent have greater control over their own lives and often a more influential voice in tackling injustice and discrimination.

Mentoring plays a role in helping women and girls overcome barriers they face and accelerate strides they are already making. By building their digital literacy and skills, women are in a better position to participate in political and business-related decision making processes.

    Eligibility

    • Open to Africans. Ugandans are encouraged to apply.

    Eligibility criteria for Mentees

    • Open to Undergraduate students.
    • Women and Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.) are highly encouraged to apply
