    2014 International European Youth Parliament (EYP) Forum – Armenia

    Interested individuals are invited to apply to attend the International EYP Forum by European Youth Parliament (EYP) in Armenia. The International EYP Forum in Armenia (IEFA) on “Democratic Citizenship: obtaining, developing, empowering” (“DECODE”) will take place on 1-5th May, 2014 in Yerevan, Armenia.

    Around 200 delegates, journalists and officials from more than 20 countries will come together for this 5-day program that will comprise of Team Building, Committee Work, General Assembly, Euro Concert, Euro Village, Intercultural Theater, Carpet Knitting Lessons, Visits to ancient monasteries, etc.

    The Open Society Justice Initiative (OSJI) is pleased to invite applications for its 2014-2016 Aryeh Neier Fellowship Program.  The Aryeh Neier Fellowship Program is a two-year program of practical work experience designed to expand a network of lawyers and advocates working internationally on human rights issue.

    Benefits:

    In 2014, four (4) fellowships will be awarded.

    • During the first year, each Fellow will work with the staff of the Open Society Justice Initiative in the Justice Initiative offices in New York, London, or Budapest on selected litigation, research and documentation, advocacy, and/or pilot projects designed to enhance accessibility, fairness, and effectiveness of justice services.
    • During the second year of the fellowship, each Fellow will be based full-time with a partner organization in Africa, Asia, Europe, or Latin America to support our efforts with that organization.

    Eligibility:

    The applicant must demonstrate:

    • Strong commitment to human rights;
    • Prior work experience in the human rights field;
    • Have a university degree in Law or an LLM or MA in human rights;
    • High degree of proficiency in English;
    • Good research, legal analysis, and drafting skills;
    • Willingness to take initiative with ability to work individually and in teams;
    • Organization and attention to detail;
    • Knowledge of French, Spanish or other languages an asset.

    Criteria:

    As part of the online application, applicants must submit the following additional documents:

    • A statement of purpose for applying to the Justice Initiative Fellows program in which the applicant indicates which of the proposed themes s/he is interested in; reasons for his/her interests in that particular area and how he/she intends to contribute to the chosen field. Applicants are encouraged to propose their ideas for specific approaches that can be applied for the work, preferably in the selected themes. Applicants may choose to propose work outside of the listed priority areas.

    • Copy of relevant Diploma(s).

    Rhodes Youth Forum – Youth Exchange Program 2014

    To promote Peace, Communal Harmony, Local Development, Youth Participation, Tourism and Culture by ‘Youth Exchange Program’ in Nepal and in the globe, Rhodes Youth Forum 2014 calls for applications for a youth exchange program.

    The National Youth Federation Nepal (NYFN ) plans to conduct two exchange programs in Kailali and Udayapur this year. Tharu Village in Kailali (March 8 to 14) and Rai Village in Udayapur (date tbd) has chosen for the exchange with other eight locations under the selection process and total 10 exchange programs with 100 participants will be organized in 2014.

    Benefits:

    • Ground transportation and food/accommodations will be covered by the program as per the norms of NYFN.
    • Scholarships available for the youth from backward community.

    Eligibility:

    • Open to youth between age of 15-29 (by 5th of March for Kailali and by 18th of March for Udayapur exchange program).

    Expectations:

    The programme will run for 6 months with national launch events in April, and a Power Summit that will bring Youth Ambassadors from across Europe together in Brussels in July.

    The International Women’s Media Foundation is accepting applications for the 2014/2015 Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship. The fellowship is designed for a woman journalist from anywhere in the world whose work in print, broadcast, or digital media has focused on human rights and social justice reporting.

    This seven month-long program – September 2014 to March 2015 – will take her to Boston and New York to study at MIT’s Center for International Studies. Work for U.S. media outlets including The Boston Globe and The New York Times.

    The Social Entrepreneurs Initiative invites young people aged 18 to 35 from West Africa to take part in an exciting Regional Competition on ‘Promoting Integrity in the Education Sector. Participants should submit proposals for projects that offer an innovative approach to promoting integrity in the education sector and address some of the challenges highlighted in TI’s 2013 Global Corruption Report: Education. The competition provides a platform for young entrepreneurs who aspire to create positive change in their communities.

    • Awards – a total of three, each worth $3000 cash
    • The winners will be sponsored to participate in the International Anti-Corruption Conference to be held in Tunisia in October 2014
    • The individuals behind the winning projects will join the SEI network, with each of the projects featured on the IACC SEI page

    Eligibility 

    • Participants between the ages of 18 and 35 can apply.
    • Participants based in West Africa and from one of the following countries are eligible: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.
    • The proposed projects must have direct impact in at least one of these countries.
    • Projects should reflect the themes of the Global Corruption Report: Education, and support activities that empower young people to develop change-maker skills such as entrepreneurship, teamwork, and leadership.
    • Applications must be in English, French or Portuguese.

    2014 Africa Europe Youth Leaders Summit Award – Brussels, Belgium

    Proposals are invited from young leaders from across Africa and Europe for the Africa-Europe Youth Summit Awards. The summit aims to strengthen the ties between young people in Africa and Europe, in order to increase their knowledge about the European Union and the African Union and their policies related to the living conditions of young people on the two continents. The 3rd Africa Europe Youth Leaders Summit that will be held on March 31-April 1 in Brussels, Belgium, seeks to give recognition and acknowledgement of the work done by youth in the cooperation between Africa and Europe.

    Three projects implemented from December 2010 to February 2014 based on priorities of Africa-Europe Youth Dimension will be presented and will receive an Award during the Youth Summit at the Gala diner gathering Youth Leaders, Ambassadors and Business personalities of both continents.

    Objectives

    • To recognize and give visibility to grass-roots and different level projects related to Africa-
    • Europe youth cooperation, with special focus on the three different topics: entrepreneurship, leadership and youth for peace.
    • To promote cooperation practices by African and European youth organizations.
    • To stimulate youth organizations to promote best practices related with African-Europe
    • dimension.
    • To encourage youth leaders and actors on project development focused on youth
    • leadership, youth entrepreneurship and youth for peace from Africa and Europe.

    Eligibility

    The call is targeted at youth organizations established in African and European countries.

    • Youth organizations in Africa and Europe that develop projects in the youth field and in the African-Europe dimension.
    • Youth member’s organizations from PYU, YFJ, ADYNE, NIYOA and AC based in Africa and Europe.

    Criteria

    • The project has to be implemented by youth NGO, Youth councils, and member organisations of YFJ, PYU, ADYNE, NIYOA and AC. The project can be done in partnership with other organisations and Institutions.
    • The project must have Youth as their main target group.
    • The project must have a strong Africa-EU dimension.
    • The project must fit into one of the priorities for the Summit (Youth Leadership, Youth Entrepreneurship, Youth for Peace).
    • The project must be an event, group of events or program that has taken place between 1 December 2010 and 28th February 2014.
    • The applications must not exceed 2 pages.
    • The application form should include 2 representatives of the project applied and the details of valid passport as requested in the application.
    • Only one representative of each project selected will attend the African Europe Youth Leaders Summit in Brussels.
    • A replacement can be decided in case the main responsible person of project is not available to attend the African Europe Youth Leaders Summit in Brussels.
    • The responsible person must be available to attend the African Europe Youth Leaders Summit in Brussels from 31st of March to 2nd of April 2014.
    • The responsible person for the project must check if he/she needs a visa to travel to Belgium and apply accordingly, a supporting letter will be provided by the JAES SM.
