    The Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (YCSRR) is an international organization of young people committed to promoting adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights at the national, regional and international levels. They are students, researchers, lawyers, health care professionals, educators, development workers, and most importantly, who are all dedicated activists.

    Together, work is done to ensure that the sexual and reproductive rights of all young people are respected, guaranteed and promoted,  also striving to secure the meaningful participation of young people in decision-making that affects the lives of young people and adolescents. This is done through advocating, generating knowledge, sharing information, building partnerships and training young activists.

    Eligibility

    Membership is open to young people between the ages 18-29 years who possess:

    • Strong leadership skills;
    • Facilitation and public speaking skills;
    • Experience in public health;
    • A human rights background (gender justice or feminist background preferred);
    • Experience in the field of development;
    • Research and writing experience;
    • Experience with policy analysis;
    • Communications skills (social media, graphic design, etc.);
    • Experience in organizing advocacy campaigns; and
    • Experience and/or involvement with local/regional/international volunteer and/or youth organizations.

    NCMM Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biophysical Chemistry

    The Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM) Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biophysical Chemistry is a 2-year postdoctoral position available in the research group of Dr. Irep Gözen at the Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM); Department of Medicine, University of Oslo.

    The project is aimed at the manipulation and characterization of surface-adhered biological membranes to understand the material-driven aspects of cellular processes. Major parts of the project contain fabrication of liposomes and 2D lipid films; design, fabrication and characterization of engineered surfaces, micromanipulation of surface-adhered bio-objects using glass capillaries or microfluidic chips and the observation of the responses mainly by optical or surface microscopy. The results are utilized to elucidate key materials aspects of biomembranes and cell behavior.

    Fellowship

    • Postdoctoral research fellow will receive a salary between NOK 486 100 – 567 100 per year – depending on qualification.

    Eligibility

    • Completed PhD degree in biophysics, biophysical chemistry or material science;
    • Experience with biological samples/cell culturing;
    • Practical knowledge of microfabrication procedures/clean room experience;
    • Working knowledge of image analysis (Matlab, Python or similar) Preferably: successfully completed programming education during undergraduate studies;
    • Practical knowledge of optics is an advantage;
    • Ability to independently perform experiments, analyze and interpret the results;
    • Documented ability to write scientific manuscripts, first author papers from PhD studies (multiple is advantageous);

    Thomson Foundation has once again teamed up with RTE MojoCon Ireland to launch its third mobile journalism competition. Works will be judged by an expert panel who will be looking for a feature story or news report shot and edited entirely on a mobile device, which excites, intrigues and surprises them and demonstrates impact and creativity.

    The story must be produced by ONE individual and entries will be marked on the following:

    • Journalism: Originality and credibility of the story, demonstrating original research, effort and use of interviews.
    • Impact: Importance of the subject matter and the impact the story has achieved.
    • Uniqueness to medium: Innovative and appropriate use of mobile recording techniques.
    • Storytelling: Clarity of the storytelling.
    • Technical quality: Technical quality of the production.

    Prizes

    • The winner will receive a full mojo kit worth approximately €800, plus return flights to Galway, Ireland, five-star accommodation and tickets to the MojoCon conference from 4th to 6th May 2017.

    Eligibility

    • The competition is open worldwide;
    • It would be preferred if entries were in English, however, other languages with on screen subtitles are acceptable;
    • Entrants must create a mobile journalism story, either a feature or TV-style news report with a run time of 2-5 minutes;
    • The story must be filmed and edited ENTIRELY on a mobile device (i.e. smartphone &/OR tablet);

    Applications for the 2017/18 CEHC Scholarships for MSc Public Health for Eye Care at LSHTM are now open. The Masters in Public Health for Eye Care at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a well-established course that aims to train leaders in prevention of blindness and to strengthen research and academic capacity for eye care programmes and training facilities, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The course provides eye health professionals with the public health knowledge and skills required to reduce blindness and visual disability in their population.

    Scholarship

    • Each scholarship covers course fees, two return flights, dissertation project funds, living costs and accommodation at the International Students House in Central London.

    Eligibility

    The applicant must:

    • Come from low or middle income Commonwealth countries that are less represented in the alumni body of the MSc Public health for eye care;
    • Work in regions where there are severe constraints in human resources for eyehealth;
    • Work in regions where there are no / limited training opportunities in PHEC /community eye health;
    • Demonstrate previous involvement / commitment to community eye healthactivities or VISION2020 programmes;
    • Present a clear career plan in public health for eye care, which they will realistically;
    • Be able to follow on completion of the MSc;
    • Have experience in public health for eye care based research and/or training in eyecare;

    The Estonian National Scholarship Programme for international students, researchers and academic staff provides Scholarships for summer and winter schools, the scholarships are intended to support participation in summer courses of Estonian language and culture as well as in courses of summer and winter schools related to the English-language curricula of degree study in Estonia.

    Cost

    The scholarship reimburses up to 500 EUR of the course fee and accommodation costs of 25 EUR per day for a maximum of 28 days per secondment in a calendar year.

    Eligibility

    Thescholarship is available for students of Bachelor’s, Master’s or doctoral studies in foreign universities who are actively involved in the studies at the time of application and have been studying at university for at least one year.

    The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam calls for applications for its Research Training Group on “Wicked Problems, Contested Administrations: Knowledge, Coordination, Strategy” (WIPCAD). The WIPCAD research program is based on systematic interdisciplinary cooperation between political and administrative sciences, organization studies, sociology and public management. It is underpinned by a qualification and gender equality concept that encourages junior scholars from both Germany and abroad to engage with neighboring disciplines, conduct theory-based research, acquire the necessary research skills, gain international experience, and prepare them for future careers in academia and in the public sector.

    Scholarship

    Scholarship holders will receive a monthly stipend from the “Graduate School Scholarship Programme 17“. The scholarship award comprises:

    • a monthly stipend of EUR 1,000;
    • a travel allowance based on your country of origin
    • a combined health, accident and liability insurance
    • a study and research allowance of EUR 460 per year
    • a rent and/or family allowance, if applicable

    In addition, grants for material costs of EUR 1,000 per year are possible. The scholarship will be for up to a three-year period, contingent upon the successful completion of each year. Extension to a fourth year will be possible only in exceptional and very well-founded cases.

    Eligibility

    • Applicants must hold a Diploma or a Master’s degree in political and administrative sciences, sociology or (public) management. Familiarity with organizational research is a plus. In exceptional cases, graduates with degrees from related fields may be considered.
    • Key selection criteria are the quality of the PhD proposal, how well it falls in with the overall thematic agenda of the Research Training Group, its innovative potential, and its likely contribution to existing knowledge in public organisations and administration;
    • International students with a non-German citizenship are strongly encouraged to apply. The Faculty strives to increase the proportion of women in the university and hence strongly encourages women to apply. Applicants with disabilities who are equally qualified will be favored;
    • Scholarship recipients will participate in seminars of the Faculty and write their own dissertation in English. Proficiency in English is required.

    DAAD scholarship holders will be identified by a two-step procedure. In step one, appropriate candidates are nominated for a DAAD scholarship by WIPCAD as the hosting program. In step two, the nominees (2 for each place) submit an online application with supporting documentation via the DAAD portal and the DAAD selection board takes the decision.

    The Award

    This year The Diana Award will present 20 exceptional young people with a ‘Legacy Award’ in memory of Princess Diana. Recipients of this new Award will be selected from 2017 Diana Award Holders, already recognised for their selfless commitment to transforming the lives of others across the world; they will be leaders, visionaries and role models able to inspire and mobilise new generations to serve their communities and make a positive change to the world, as Princess Diana believed they could.

    As well as receiving the Legacy Award at a prestigious ceremony, recipients will also have access to a unique Development Programme which will provide them with the opportunity to enhance their skills in four key areas; leadership, community development, social entrepreneurship and technology for good.

    • Inspiring Others: Through their positive attitude and passionate approach to life they are a role model to others.

    Judging Criteria

    Each Diana Award nomination will be reviewed by a regional judging panel, comprising of young people, experts in the youth sector, business and educational professionals. They will be looking for young people who demonstrate the qualities Princess Diana governed her life by; compassion, kindness and service with strong evidence provided.

    How to Nominate

    • Ready to nominate? Submit your nomination here no later than Friday 17 March 2017 at 5:00 p.m. GMT.
    • In order for your Diana Award nomination to also be eligible for the Legacy Award, you must fill out the section within the form titled ‘Additional Information/ Legacy Award’.

    All nominators will be contacted 27 March 2017 with the result of their nomination.

    SRCC Global Millennium Summit 2017 is a first-of-its-kind initiative, to be held at the hub of business and innovation, Dubai on March 18- 19, 2017. Organised by the students of Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi in collaboration with students of IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Kharagpur, this Summit aims to provide the youth with a platform to discuss, act and interact.

    The Summit seeks to initiate a dialogue between the students of the world’s leading universities, and notable leaders from the fields of governance, business, technology, and academia. The Summit includes speaker sessions, panel discussion, workshops, competitions and networking events for the delegates.
